Sammie Kenney - President

Mechanical Engineering

Sammie (Samantha) is a Mechanical Engineering student from Reston, Virginia. She was drawn to the program her freshman year by the welcoming community and the opportunity to apply her engineering skills to make a difference both locally and internationally. Sammie first joined Team Nica as a freshman and is now an active member of Team Kenya. Outside of engineering, she enjoys spending time with friends, playing soccer, surfing, line dancing, and reading.

Alex Zuñiga - Vice President

Electircal Engineering

Alex is a third year electrical engineering student from San Diego, California. She joined EWB to be able to apply engineering to support communities around the world. Alex is a subteam lead on Team Ecuador, focused on the cultural aspects of the design. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and listening to music.

 
 

Brooke Gauerke - Secretary

Civil Engineering

Brooke is a third year Civil Engineering major from San Diego, California, and is a member of team Ecuador. She originally joined EWB to expand her world scope and use engineering to help those abroad. In her free time she enjoys any activity with friends, drawing, soccer and gymnastics.

Trinity Johnson - Treasurer

Civil Engineering

Trinity is a third-year Civil Engineering major from San Diego, California. She joined EWB her freshman year with the hopes of using what she learns from her major to help communities abroad. Trinity originally joined team Nica her freshman year but is now on team Ecuador. In her free time she enjoys anything outdoors from camping to hiking and fishing, she also loves to play and watch soccer.

Aaron Schiff - Public Relations and Media Coordinator

Mechanical Engineering

Aaron is a 4th year mechanical engineering major from Los Angeles, California and joined EWB with the mission to help people through engineering. He is a design lead on the Kenya team and primarily works on piping. Aaron enjoys anything sports, especially football, tennis, rock climbing, and surfing, and also loves anything outdoors.

Noah Ipanaque - Fundraising Coordinator

Civil Engineering

Noah is a Civil Engineering student from Huntington Beach, California. He joined EWB during his freshman year, looking to improve his knowledge of engineering while also helping to make a difference in the lives of others. He is a member of the Kenya team and is interested in the water resources aspects of the project. He is primarily focused on the greywater treatment component of the shower system that is currently being designed. In his free time, Noah enjoys playing his guitar, surfing, and spending time outdoors.

 

Zak Neddo - Events Coordinator

Manufacturing Engineering

Zak is a fourth-year Manufacturing Engineering major from Kenmore, Washington. He joined EWB in Fall of 2022 to put his engineering knowledge to use helping people in the real world. He is a member of the Kenya team, where he serves as the events coordinator as well as helping with design work. Zak enjoys strategy games, card games, and reading.

Carolina Contreras- Fundraising Coordinator

Environmental Engineering

Caro is a second year studying Environmental Engineering from Palmdale, California. EWB is a great opportunity to help communities and build essential skills, so with that in mind she was quick to commit. She likes to volunteer, sketch, spend time outdoors and trying new things.

Lorenzo Lisi - Membership Coordinator

Mechanical Engineering

Lorenzo is a second year Mechanical engineering major from the Bay area. Joining EWB and team Ecuador his freshmen year, he enjoyed the humanitarian aspect of EWB and how it challenged the idea that engineers could not be active in social justice. In his free time, Lorenzo is an avid juggler, and can maintain a 5 ball pattern with a couple of tricks mixed in also.

Aidan Hicks - IMPACT Coordinator

Civil Engineering

Aidan is a third-year Civil Engineering student from Petaluma, California. He joined EWB because he’s passionate about engineering applications that make a difference in communities, both locally and abroad. He appreciates community service, volunteering regularly at a food bank back home, and he enjoys incorporating more involved volunteering opportunities as Impact Coordinator. In his free time, you can find him reading, watching obscure video essays and training for triathlons.

 
 

Jasmine Schwarz - DEI Coordinator

Environmental Engineering

Jasmine is a 3rd year environmental engineering student from Sacramento, California and is passionate about water rights for all, which is what drew her to EWB. She joined her freshmen year looking for a passionate engineering community and what stuck with her is the emphasis on equitable and ethical engineering, she is now on Team Ecuador and got to travel for the assessment trip in Summer 2025. In her free time she loves to read, cook, go to concerts and hike around the trails in San Luis Obispo.

William Smith - Regional Conference Coordinator

Environmental Engineering

Will is a 2nd year Environmental Engineering Major on team Ecuador. He joined EWB as soon as he could, as he picked Cal Poly because it was one of the schools he knew had a strong EWB club. During his free time Will loves to ski, surf, backpack, and pretty much anything else outdoors.

 
 

Juno Johnson - Team Ecuador Project Manager and Principal PM

M.S., Industrial Engineering

Juno is pursing her Masters in Industrial Engineering from Colorado. She is currently a Project Manager for Team Ecuador and had the oppourtunity to travel during Summer 2025. When she first joined EWB, she joined Team Fiji where she was working on a water distribution project and had the oppourtunity to travel during Summer 2023. She loves that she is able to use her engineering education to help people. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, creating art, and spending time with friends.

Liam Lopez - Team Ecuador Project Manager

Civil Engineering

Liam is a 3rd year civil on team ecuador. Had the opportunity to travel to Ecuador this summer and meet the community for the first time. Joined ewb because saw it as a great opportunity to help others using engineering in college.

 

Dorin Meydany - Team Kenya Project Manager

Environmental Engineering

Dorin is a 3rd year Environmental Engineering student from Los Angeles, California. She joined team Kenya in her first year to gain engineering experience and a wide variety of knowledge. She has grown to love EWB very much and one of her favorite aspects is all of the people she has met along the way! In her free time, Dorin enjoys swimming, watching movies and tv shows, learning new skills, and being outside.

Shannon Mason - Team Kenya Project Manager

Biomedical Engineering

Shannon is a fourth-year, biomedical engineering student from Menomonie, Wisconsin. She joined EWB because the fun and welcoming atmosphere drew her in and she loved the meaningful work so much that she became a PM. She loves the vibe the team has fostered and is eager to watch it grow! In her free time, she loves to cook, play sports, and camp.

Isabel Gonzalez - Team Local Project Manager

Civil Engineering

Isabel is a civil engineering major from the Bay Area and joined EWB with the goal of helping surrounding communities in California, as well as being a part of a fun and uplifting environment involving engineering. She enjoys adventuring out with friends, making art, and watching tv shows.

Nadya Klug - Team Local Project Manager

Civil Engineering

Nadya is from Denver, Colorado, but if you ask her she will also say she is from the California and, maybe, Oregon. She enjoys lifting, reading, being outside, and playing spikeball. Nadya wants to learn how to surf this year. She’s in EWB because she loves helping others and wants to work to uplift communities similarly postgrad.
